We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer – BOQ & Purchase to manage Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation, material estimation, and procurement activities for structural steel projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of structural fabrication, vendor coordination, material planning, and purchase processes to ensure timely availability of quality materials at competitive prices.
1. Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from structural and fabrication drawings.
2. Perform quantity take-offs and estimate material requirements for project execution.
3. Prepare material requisitions based on project specifications and BOQs.
4. Source vendors, obtain quotations, and evaluate supplier proposals.
5. Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers.
6. Issue purchase orders and monitor procurement activities to ensure timely delivery.
7. Coordinate with design, production, stores, and project teams for material planning and procurement.
8. Track material consumption and maintain procurement records and documentation.
9. Verify supplier invoices, delivery challans, and material quality against purchase orders.
10. Maintain vendor databases and develop reliable supplier relationships.
11. Support project cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control initiatives.
12. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
* Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity estimation.
* Ability to read and interpret structural, fabrication, and mechanical drawings.
* Good understanding of structural steel materials, fabrication, and erection processes.
* Experience in vendor sourcing, purchase, and procurement.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and ERP software (preferred).
* Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
* Experience in structural steel fabrication, piping, or EPC projects.
* Knowledge of inventory management and material planning is an added advantage.
