We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Purchase Engineer to manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for structural fabrication and piping projects. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of engineering materials, vendor management, cost negotiation, and procurement processes to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing.
1. Procure structural steel materials, plates, beams, channels, pipes, fasteners, and fabrication consumables.
2. Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
3. Obtain quotations, compare prices, negotiate terms, and finalize purchase orders.
4. Coordinate with the design, production, planning, and project teams to understand material requirements.
5. Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.
6. Follow up with suppliers for order confirmation, delivery schedules, and quality compliance.
7. Maintain purchase records, vendor databases, and procurement documentation.
8. Conduct vendor performance evaluations and develop alternative sourcing strategies.
9. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
10. Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and purchase forecasts
* Strong knowledge of structural steel materials and fabrication processes.
* Experience in vendor management and supplier negotiations.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and material specifications.
* Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
* Good analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
* Knowledge of inventory control and procurement planning.
* Experience in structural steel fabrication, heavy engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries.
* Familiarity with steel grades, welding consumables, and fabrication materials.
